The Montauk Monster

Okay cryptid fans, check this out.

Last week something washed up on the beach at Montauk on Long Island in New York State. Some say it's a monster. Others have said it's nothing more than a raccoon. What do you think? Here it is--The Montauk Monster, 2008's (so far) cryptid of the year!

Stuff like this just makes my summer!

that's no racoon! it's strange. it reminds me of something, but i can't quite put my finger on it.

OH MAN!!!! That thing is so totally not a racoon. That is enough proof for people to believe in monsters. That thing is creepy yet cool but I wouldn't want to come face to face with one of those creatures!
(P.S Loved the book!)

OMG!!! That thing rocks! I would love to see that thing up close!

It almost looks like a bald dog, but I think it's a monster of some sort.

Yeah... that sooooo dos'nt look like a racoon. The closest thing it looks like is a bald dog! But again that don't really look like a dog..... maybe some sort of alien or some weird paranormal monster......

It's strange, because, according to Darwin's Theory, which I'm not saying is correct, (More holes in it than Swiss cheese) This kind of animal wouldn't be hanging around the beach.

THEORY 1:Mutation

Self-explanatory. Maybe it lived near a toxic dump.

THEORY 2: Cross breeding

This could be what happens if a hound and a pig mate.

THEORY 3: Hoax

It could just be a hoax. Can someone tell me why that cloth is tied around it's arm?

I've done some research. It COULD be a raccoon with it's upper jaw missing. There also HAPPENS to be an animal disease center on a nearby , which I recall a The Plum Island Animal Disease Center. Connections, anyone? An animal disease center on a nearby island? Some kind of mutated creature?

Despite all this, I still maintain that this is the result of latex and a corpse.

Wow, what are they going to find next? The Jersey Devil? The Loch Ness Monster? A Chubacabra? Mothman? Oh, dear...I probably shouldn't be saying that.....

Oh my gosh. That is sooo not a raccoon. It looks like a mythical creature of some sort, like a sea monster almost, but it also might be a goat, but the face is so vicious looking! I bet it's fake. Things like the "dragon" that was preserved in formaldehyde? And how about the mermaid- monkey BUILT by a circus company in the 1930's? And let's not forget the fake Bigfoot sent to those scientists. (you know, the stuffed Bigfoot suit?) I think it's fake...but who knows.

I think it looks like a hairless Koala Bear, not that one exists. But it may have lost it's hair after being sumbmerged for a period of time.

It looks like a mix between and dog and some sort of birdhead. That is by far one of the strangest things I have ever seen!!! -Shawn

not a raccoon, too small. probably a large rat genetically modified to produce a beak then dumped in a storm sewer.

Personally, I know he's something they hatched up in the labs in New Joisey and, when they don't need him anymore, they make him vanish. The End. The government has a reeel keen sense of doing so, anybody who dislikes them. God bless.

Jason, you need to interview some of the scientists at the Plum Island Animal Research facility, just miles off the coast of Montauk. And then you need to write a scary story about it!

Anonymous said...

My mom said that people made this stuff up.Now I can prove to her that its real.

Anonymous said...

Look, to anyone who says "That's soooo a monster!" you shouldn't jump to conclusions and think of a supernatural explanation for everything. It's been 500 years, we should keep our heads.

I'm not a skeptic. I'm not. But I search for an explanation that's not out of the ordinary before consulting an Ouija Board.

Hi,

I live just a few miles from Montauk and let me tell you this is NO raccoon. Just the other day in school we were discussing the US Goverment's Plum Island just a few miles off the coast....

i totally think it's an alien! no offense to anyone but i mean, come on, isn't it kind of stupid to think that we humans on earth are the only living things in this universe????? we have no idea even how big our universe is!!!

Amanda

P.S. i read the book once and then waited like 2 years to get it again!!!

Amanda said...

well, i believe that it is some sort of alien from outer space. no offense to anyone but it's kind of stupid to think that we're the ONLY living things in this ENTIRE universe. i mean we don't even know HOW BIG it actually is. it could go on FOREVER for all we know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Homestar said...

Amanda, that hugeness is one of the reasons alien sitings are unlikely. I don't doubt that they exist, but the chances that they have developed the technology- and interest- to visit us are minuscule.

Sorry Jason but this is just an estimated guess that it looks like a dead dog that washed up on shore see the mouth the flesh on it has rottened away you can see where the nose was also the hair most likley came off of it as it was lying in the sun for so long.
